(Photo by Steven Branscombe/Getty Images)Scott Frost may have gone 4-8 in his first season coaching his alma mater, Nebraska football, but there was definitely sustained improvement during the course of the season. The Huskers won four of their last six games, with tight losses to Ohio State and Iowa mixed in.The improvement from September to November was solid, and made even better by the breakout of freshman quarterback Adrian Martinez, who is a true star in the making for Frost. CBS Sports‘ Barrett Sallee graded the first year coaches on their regular seasons, including Nebraska football’s Scott Frost.Sallee gave Frost a ‘B’ for the way he bounced back from the 0-6 start to the season.“Six straight losses to open the season didn’t exactly sit well, but the Cornhuskers came on strong late to finish 4-2 and give fans hope.”Of the 12 Power Five hires, only four graded out above Frost. Dan Mullen earned an ‘A’ for lining Florida up for a potential New Year’s Six berth in year one, while Jimbo Fisher got an ‘A-‘ for Texas A&M’s strong effort against top teams like LSU and Clemson.Down in the Group of Five, only two coaches received a higher grade than Frost. His successor at UCF, Josh Huepel, graded out the highest of all with an ‘A+.’ It’s hard to argue, with the Knights going undefeated once again.[CBS Sports]last_img read more
