Angry Passengers Stop Train in Rabat Protest Morning Delay

Rabat – Protesting against repeated morning delays, passengers stopped a train on Monday morning in Agdal railway station.Eyewitnesses told Morocco World News that a train linking Casablanca, Rabat and Kenitra, stopped in the railway station of Agdal, Rabat around 7:20 a.m. due to a technical failure.“There was a delay of up to three hours. ONCF officials asked us through the audio system to wait, saying that the train will stop for only 30 minutes,” Oumaima, one of the passengers told MWN.“After two hours, the train did not resume its service, which caused passengers to start venting their anger,” she added. The technical problem has caused inconvenience to passengers who stood on the tracks in protest against excessive delays in the arrival of trains.The Moroccan National Railways Office, ONCF has issued a statement in the aftermath of the protest, saying that passengers “are also held responsible for the delay since they prevented the train from leaving the station after the problem was fixed.” According to the same source, the train did not leave Agdal station until 9:30 a.m.A similar incident has been reported in the train station of Kenitra this morning. Multiple local media reports said the train, which was scheduled to leave the station this morning at 8:19, hasn’t arrived yet as of this writing.
